Longwood enters their second leg of a brutal three games in six days road trip. The Lancers opponent tonight is the 8-2  Seton Hall Pirates of the Big East. Tonight’s game will end a three game series with the Pirates. Thus far the Lancers have already been to New Jersey two years ago and lost 78-51. Last year Seton Hall was kind enough to come to Farmville as part of their obligation and beat the Lancers once again 87-61 a couple of days before Christmas.

The Pirates will look a little different to Longwood this year, as they’ve lost some key pieces to their lineup from a year ago. They have yet to lose at home, but have had close calls against bad teams like NJIT and North Carolina A&T. Seton Hall has been playing really aggressively on the offensive end and has a stingy defense. Eight Pirates play over 20+ minutes and they are lead by the scoring of Fuquan Edwards (19.7 ppg), Gene Teague (13.1 ppg), and Aaron Cosby (12.3 ppg). Teague could cause the most problems for LU, especially with foul trouble, he’s a physical 6’9 nearly 300 lbs player.

For Longwood, this is another learning opportunity for a young team to add valuable experience to take into conference play. The core of the team did a much better job of taking care of the basketball Monday versus Canisius. The key for Longwood has to be to play solid basketball over the next three days, play well at home versus Fairleigh Dickinson, and look sharp going into conference play where the Lancers first three games will be at home.
